Student DevelopmentGENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONAs the leader of Career Services, the Director is responsible for creating and managing programs and events that connect students, faculty, and alumni with potential employers.
In addition, the Director will offer coaching and career development opportunities for career growth and personal growth.
The Director will oversee employer relations, help students with their career development, and focus on career readiness in the areas of the eight core competencies most sought after by employers.
The Director will also be instrumental in implementing the Dragon Pathway Program and expanding the career services portions of the guide pathway model.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Career Services Office in alignment with the Dragon Pathway Program and the University's Strategic Plan.
Create long-term and short-term operational plans and identify strategic priorities.
Collaboration is key to success.
Develop and implement effective assessment and program evaluation methods.
Manage and oversee departmental budget.
Engage in professional associations and community activities to promote the objectives of the Career Services department.
Promote services, programs, and resources to internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni.
Build community involvement at the campus level.
Develop and maintain employer outreach programs to increase the number and quality of employers and job and internship opportunities for students across the campus and build career fair attendance by employers.
Building professional networks and business relationships.
Develop and oversee experiential learning opportunities such as internships, prior learning assessments, and service learning.
Create and provide career development programs that align with NACE's eight career-ready competencies and the DEC curriculum.
Focus on practical skills, such as crafting a resume/cover letter, mastering interviewing techniques, learning business etiquette, and developing effective job search strategies.
Expand Career Services' online resources for all career-related opportunities.
Pursue increased potential for international career opportunities.
Supervision and guidance of employees within the department.
Maintain accurate alumni and graduate placement data.
Maintain student and employer database.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB Advanced degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
Significant experience in career services or employment/job placement.
Have interpersonal social, and business skills; the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and visitors tactfully, courteously, and harmoniously.
Must possess multicultural awareness and competence and have the ability to work in a diverse environment and serve constituents from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Strong organizational and effective communication abilities are essential.
Knowledge of Handshake a plus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
